OnePlus 8 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max - Which should you buy?

OnePlus 8 Pro launched in April 2020 and iPhone 11 Pro Max launched September 2019. Both phones are good for performance. But there are many things upgrades and downgrade on both phones compare to each other. We are going to discuss about both of these phones' good and bad side compare to each other.

Display

OnePlus 8 Pro used 6.78 inches QHD (1440 x 3168 pixels) AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate with 240Hz touch-sensing, and iPhone 11 Pro Max used 6.5 inches FHD+ (1242 x 2688 pixels) OLED display, 60Hz refresh rate with 120Hz touch-sensing. Both are great displays currently available in the market. But OnePlus 8 Pro’s display is slightly better than iPhone 11 Pro Max. OnePlus 8 Pro’s display is smoother than iPhone 11 Pro Max’s display because of 120Hz refresh rate. Also, OnePlus 8 Pro get A+ score from Display Mate and broke 13 records.

Body

OnePlus 8 Pro used Corning Gorilla Glass front and back with aluminum frame. It’s 8.5 mm thick and only 199g weight. iPhone 11 Pro Max also used Corning Gorilla Glass front and back but used stainless steel frame. It’s 8.1 mm thick and 226g weight. Both phones are IP68 dust/water-resistant. OnePlus 8 Pro has an optical under-display fingerprint sensor which is super-fast and accurate. On the other hand, iPhone 11 used 3D face ID which is also fast and accurate too.

Performance

Both phones are performance beast. OnePlus used Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 (7 nm+) with Adreno 650 GPU. It’s a flagship chipset so no doubt about its performance. On the other hand, iPhone 11 Pro Max used its own chipset Apple A13 Bionic (7 nm+) with Apple GPU (4-core graphics). It’s also a great chipset. iPhone used LPDDR4x RAM whither, OnePlus used LPDDR5 RAM which is faster than LPDDR4x RAM.

Camera

OnePlus 8 Pro have quad-camera setup which is 48MP f/1.7 IMX689 (customized sensor) primary camera + 8MP f/2.2 telephoto camera (3x hybrid optical zoom) + 48MP f/2.2 IMX586 ultrawide camera + color filter camera. On the other hand, iPhone has a triple camera setup which is 12 MP f/1.8 primary camera + 12 MP f/2.0 telephoto camera (2x hybrid optical zoom) + 12 MP f/2.4 ultrawide camera. Talking about performance iPhone can capture more natural images than OnePlus. Even iPhone’s portrait images are more accurate than OnePlus. OnePlus also can capture great images with great dynamic range. Even, OnePlus 8 Pro’s night mode slightly better than iPhone 11 Pro Max. For selfie, OnePlus 8 Pro used 16 MP f/2.5 camera and iPhone used 7 MP f/2.2 camera. Though OnePlus can capture an image with more details for its big sensor iPhone images are more natural and provides a true color tone. It’s not mean that the OnePlus camera is worse. OnePlus 8 Pro’s camera is great and worthy of the price.

Battery

OnePlus 8 Pro has 4510 mAh battery with 30W fast charger and iPhone 11 Pro Max has 3969 mAh battery with 18W fast charger. Both phones support wireless charger but OnePlus 8 Pro support 30W wireless charger.
